At least 37 persons killed due to lightning in Uttar Pradesh

In Uttar Pradesh, 32 people were killed and 13 injured due to lightning on Sunday.


A government spokesperson said that the lightening victims included seven each in Kanpur and Fatehpur, five in Jhansi, four in Jalaun, three in Hamirpur, two in Ghazipur and one each in Jaunpur, Pratapgarh, Kanpur Dehat and Chitrakoot.

An official statement said Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath condoled the deaths and announced four lakh rupees ex-gratia to families of each victim.

The spokesperson said that the Chief Minister also directed officials to ensure that there is no laxity in the execution of relief work. He also directed officials to ensure that the injured persons get adequate treatment and that there should be no laxity in the execution of relief works.
