The recovery of nearly 350 kilograms of explosives, including ammonium nitrate, an AK-47 rifle, and a large quantity of ammunition from a rented house in Dhauj village near Delhi, has once again underlined the exceptional professionalism and commitment of India’s security and intelligence agencies. Their timely action averted what could have been a devastating incident with far-reaching consequences for national security and public safety.
As per reports, the massive seizure included 14 bags of ammonium nitrate weighing about 100 kilograms, 84 live cartridges, timers, a chemical solution, and 48 other items suspected to be components for assembling improvised explosive devices (IEDs). The sheer volume of explosives recovered indicates that the accused had plans to carry out multiple high-intensity attacks. These devices, if operationalized, could have caused unprecedented destruction and loss of life. The explosives were found in a house rented by Dr. Mujahil Shakil, a student of Al Falah Medical College and a native of Jammu and Kashmir, who was taken into custody by the J&K Police on October 30 following the arrest of another accused, Dr. Adil Ahmad Rather, connected to the same terror module.
