Jammu Tawi, Apr 16: After the winter capital Jammu, the summer capital Srinagar will now have to face the VIP culture coupled with frequent traffic mess for the next six (6) months from 30th of this month onwards as the bi-annual darbar will close at Jammu on 30th of April and will reopen at Srinagar on May 4th next month.
After the darbar move on April 30th this month, the traffic mess on the roads of the winter capital Jammu will come to an end to a certain extent and the summer capital Srinagar will have to face VIP culture and confront traffic mess as thousands of vehicles will be shifted to Srinagar along with darbar move.
“Around ten thousand vehicles of the office of the Lieutenant Governor (LG), Chief Minister (CM), ministers and senior officers will be shifted to Summer capital Srinagar along with darbar move,” official sources informed the Northlines.
After the darbar move, VIP culture will be shifted to Srinagar and the summer capital will face the brunt of this practice despite the government claims that VIP culture will not be tolerated.
Official sources said that the government will soon issue roaster regarding rotation and presence of ministers and senior officers in Jammu after the darbar move.
The officers/some other employees working in the Civil Secretariat in Finance Department, Home Department, General Administration Department (GAD), Law Department, Education Department, Planning Department, Information Department, DGP office, CM’s office, health and medical education Department will also shift to Srinagar and will work from there from May 4th onwards.
The Estates Department has also started process for providing accommodation to the officers and other employees at Srinagar and the renovation/repair work is nearing completion.
It may be mentioned that the Lieutenant Governor (LG), Manoj Sinha, stopped the bi-annual drabar move practice in 2021, two years after the erstwhile State of J&K was made UT by the Government of India (GoI).
The LG did this to save the heavy government expenditure involved in darbar move. However, the Omar Abdullah led government started the darbar move as it has promised so in its election manifesto.
It may be mentioned that thousands of employees move from Jammu to Srinagar and vice-versa with darbar move.
