Actress promotes exercises to ease frozen shoulder pain
Frozen shoulder, also known as adhesive capsulitis, is a common condition affecting millions worldwide that causes stiffness and limited range of motion in the shoulder joint. The condition typically develops gradually over three stages and can become chronic if not properly addressed. Recent research finds that utilizing simple at-home exercises during recovery can help increase mobility and reduce discomfort.
Noted Indian actress and health advocate Bhagyashree recently shared several easy movements that individuals experiencing frozen shoulder symptoms can incorporate into their daily routine. The suggested routines are designed to gently stretch the shoulder and enhance its range of motion.
Two of the encouraged exercises involve using light resistance bands. The first, called a band pull-apart, has the individual hold the band with both hands in front of the body before pulling the hands apart to the sides in a controlled motion. Another called a French press moves the arms from back to front in a pressing motion while keeping the elbows tucked in.
An additional exercise, known as a pendulum stretch, involves leaning forward and using the unaffected arm to swing the painful shoulder in small controlled circles. Towel stretches and rotations while braced against a stationary object are also recommended to slowly work the shoulder through its full range.
When performed correctly and regularly, these light mobility exercises can help reduce stiffness, restore function, and accelerate the recovery process according to medical experts. Consistency is key, along with listening to one's body and stopping if pain becomes exacerbated. For most cases, a combination of passive stretching, range-of-motion routines, and physical therapy can relieve frozen shoulder symptoms over a period of months.
