54 of 73 deaths in Jammu raise alarm; 3,344 test COVID positive in UT

    Jammu Tawi, May 17:  3,344 new positive cases of COVID, 1418 from Jammu division and 1926 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 247952. Also 73 COVID-19 deaths have been reported,54 from Jammu Division and 19 from Kashmir Division.

    Out of 73 deaths reported today, 15 died in GMC Jammu, 02 in CD Hosp Jammu, 01 in GMC Rajouri, 02 in CH Udhampur, 02 in GMC Kathua, 05 in GMC Rajouri, 02 in MH Akhnoor, 01 in DH Reasi, 01 in DH Samba, 01 in DH Udhampur, 02 in DH Poonch, 01 in SMVDNH Katra, 02 in MH Satwari, 01 in CHC Nowshera, 01 in CHC Pallanwala, 01 in CHC Ramnagar, 01 in CHC Surankote, 01 in SSH Jammu, 01 in Fortis Kangra, 11 in Home/ Brought Dead, 01 in SKIMS JVC Bemina, 01 in SKIMS Soura, 04 in SMHS Sgr, 01 in DH Shopian, 05 in GMC Anantnag, 01 in CD Hosp Srinagar, 03 in JLNM Sgr, 03 in CHC Kupwara.

    Moreover, 4042 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 1082 from Jammu Division and 2960 from Kashmir Division.

    According to the daily Media Bulletin on novel Corona virus (Covid-19), out of 247952 positive cases, 50852 are Active Positive, 193878 have recovered and 3222 have died; 1493 in Jammu division and 1729 in Kashmir division.

    The Bulletin further said that out of 7955865test results available, 7707913 samples have been tested as negative till 17thMay, 2021.

    Till date 1974299 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 75986 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 50852 in isolation and 121015 in home surveillance. Besides, 1723224 persons have completed their surveillance period.

    Providing district-wise breakup, the Bulletin said that Jammu has 44835 positive cases (including 613 cases reported today) with 8043 active positive cases, 35950recoveries (including 461 cases recovered today), 842 deaths; Udhampur has 9070 positive cases (including 228cases reported today), 1647active positive cases, 7324 recoveries (including137 cases recovered today)and99 deaths; Rajouri has 8182 positive cases (including 106 cases reported today)with 3415active positive, 4631recoveries (including 98 cases recovered today)and 136deaths; Doda has 4772 positive cases (including 90cases reported today)with961Active positive, 3737 recovered (including 01 cases recovered today)and 74deaths; Kathua has 7405 positive cases (including 115 cases reported today), 1378 active positive cases, 5929recovered(including 242cases recovered today) and 98deaths; Kishtwar has 3563 positive cases (including 27 cases reported today)with 409 Active Positive, 3128 recoveriesand26 deaths; Samba has 5736 positive cases (including 89 cases reported today)with 2125 active positive cases, 3526 recoveries and 85 deaths; Poonch has 4283 positive cases (including 56 cases reported today)with1267active positive, 2950recoveries (including 24 cases recovered today)and 66 deaths; Ramban has 3729 positive cases (including 43 cases reported today)with768 active positive cases, 2918 recoveries (including 67 cases recovered today)and 43 deaths while Reasi has 4538 positive (including 51 cases reported today)with 703 active positive cases, 3811 recoveries (including52 cases recovered today)and 24 deaths.

    Similarly, Srinagar has 58525 positive cases (including 495 cases reported today) with 7866 Active Positive, 49969recovered (including 1046cases recovered today), 690 deaths; Baramulla has 18156 positive cases (including 118 cases reported today)with 3080Active Positive, 14854recovered (including 478 cases recovered today), 222 deaths; Budgam reported 16398 positive cases (including376 cases reported today)with 4080 active positive cases, 12166 recovered (including 290cases recovered today), 152 deaths; Pulwama has 10887 positive cases (including 145 cases reported today)with2564Active Positive, 8185recovered (including 223 cases recovered today)and 138 deaths; Kupwara has 9496 positive cases (including 124 cases reported today), 1761 Active Positive, 7612recoveries (including 173 cases recovered today), 123 deaths;  Anantnag district has 11775 positive cases (including 228 cases reported today)with 4140 Active Positive, 7497recovered (including 162 cases recovered today), 138 deaths;  Bandipora has 7090 positive cases (including137 cases reported today), with987Active Positive and 6027 recoveries (including 45 cases recovered today),76 deaths; Ganderbal has 7050 positive cases (including 82cases reported today)with 1105Active Positive, 5883 recoveries (including 113 cases recovered today)and62deaths; Kulgam has 7924 positive cases (including 164 cases reported today)with 3395 Active Positive, 4448recoveries (including203 cases recovered today)and 81 deaths while as Shopian has 4538 positive cases (including 57 cases reported today),1158active positive cases, 3333 recoveries (including 227 cases recovered today)and47 deaths.

    According to the bulletin, among the total 247952 positive cases in J&K, 21001have been reported as travellers while 226951 as others.

    The Bulletin said that the breakup represents districts from which the patients have been traced or are ordinarily residing.

    The bulletin added that there are 2547 COVID dedicated beds, 2276 Isolation beds with 819vacant beds and 271 ICU beds where 87 beds are vacant in Jammu division while there are 2853 COVID dedicated beds, 2720 Isolation beds where 1061 beds are vacant and 133 ICU beds where 75are vacant beds in Kashmir division. There are a total of 5400 COVID dedicated beds, 4996 Isolation beds with 1880 beds vacant and 404 ICU beds with 162vacant beds in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
