Jammu Tawi, Jul 24: The Government of India (GoI) on Friday said it has consistently raised the issue of cross-border terrorism, with a particular focus on Jammu and Kashmir, at bilateral and multilateral forums, while seven parliamentary delegations visited 33 countries following the April 2025 Pahalgam terror attack to present India’s perspective on terrorism.
Replying to an unstarred question in the Lok Sabha, Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh, said the government closely monitors developments in the neighbourhood that have a bearing on national security and continues to take all necessary measures to safeguard the country’s interests.
The minister said India has placed high emphasis on international cooperation to combat terrorism, including cross-border terrorism, and has consistently highlighted its impact on the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir at all relevant international platforms. “The Ministry of External Affairs has established Joint Working Groups on Counter-Terrorism with 31 partner countries and actively participates in various multilateral groupings where such issues are regularly discussed,” he said.
The government further informed the House that following the Pahalgam terror attack in April 2025, seven parliamentary delegations were sent to 33 countries to present India’s position on the menace of cross-border terrorism before the international community.
The minister said the government accords high priority to the safety, welfare and development of people living in the border areas of the Jammu region.
