New Delhi, July 24: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) on Friday approved a major reshuffle in the senior bureaucracy, appointing several Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers and a senior Indian Defence Accounts Service (IDAS) officer to Secretary-level positions across key Central Government Ministries and Departments.
According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), the appointments are aimed at strengthening governance and administrative leadership across the Union Government.
Among the key appointments, Katikithala Srinivas (Gujarat cadre) has been named Secretary, Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region, while Vineet Joshi (Manipur cadre) will take over as Secretary, Ministry of Panchayati Raj, succeeding Vivek Bhardwaj after his superannuation on July 31.
Naresh Pal Gangwar has been appointed Secretary, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, while Piyush Goyal will serve as Secretary General of the National Human Rights Commission. T.K. Anil Kumar has been named Secretary, Department of School Education and Literacy, and Sushil Kumar Lohani will assume charge as Secretary, Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying after serving as Officer on Special Duty.
Other appointments include Archana Varma as Mission Director, National Water Mission; Keshav Chandra as Secretary, Ministry of Mines; D. Thara as Secretary, Department of Capital Development; B. Rajender as Director of the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration; Chandra Bhushan Kumar as Secretary, Ministry of Labour and Employment; Satendra Singh as Secretary, Department of Urban Development; and Suchindra Misra (IDAS) as Secretary, National Commission for Minorities.
The ACC also approved the in-situ upgradation of four senior officers to the rank and pay of Secretary to the Government of India as part of the administrative overhaul. (Agencies)
