Jammu, Jun 24: At least 23 pilgrims were injured after a mini bus carrying them skidded off the road and plunged into a gorge in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district on Wednesday, officials said.
The accident occurred near Dingi Simbli on the Dhar Road when the pilgrims, residents of Goran and Sumb villages in Samba district, were on their way to the Mata Sukrala Devi Temple in Billawar.
Soon after the mishap, local residents rushed to the spot and launched rescue operations before police teams joined the efforts.
The injured pilgrims were rescued from the gorge and shifted for medical treatment. Further details about their condition were awaited.
Police have taken cognisance of the incident and are investigating the cause of the accident. (Agencies)
