    J&K: 6 Held With 13 Kg Charas as Police Bust Drug Racket in Anantnag

    SRINAGAR, Apr 16: Police have busted a drug racket in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district, arresting six peddlers and recovering over 13 kg of charas along with a small quantity of heroin, officials said on Thursday.

    The action followed multiple operations carried out across south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, leading to the registration of five cases and seizure of significant quantities of contraband, a police spokesperson said.

    Acting on specific inputs, a team from Police Station Srigufwara raided the residence of Nisar Ahmad Nadaf in Dachigam Srigufwara and recovered around 2 kg of charas-like substance.

    In separate naka checking at Shakras, police arrested Adil Ahmad Mochi of Badroo with about 2 kg of charas, while Aqib Ramzan Rather of Chatrasoo was apprehended at Pethnoo Crossing with a similar quantity.

    In another operation near Iqbal Market at Mill Mod, police intercepted a passenger auto and arrested driver Javeed Ahmad Dandroo of Pandithpora Anchidoora and passenger Majid Akram Malik of New Qazibagh Anantnag. Around 12 grams of heroin was recovered from them.

    In a major seizure, police apprehended Sabzar Ahmad Rather of Waghama Rather Mohalla at K.V Pora Marhama and recovered approximately 7.854 kg of charas from his possession.

    All accused have been taken into custody and cases registered. Police said further investigation is underway and strict action will continue against those involved in narcotics trafficking to ensure a drug-free environment. (Agencies)
