    Punjab Police Bust Cross-Border Arms Smuggling Module, 3 Arrested

    CHANDIGARH, Apr 14: Punjab Police has busted a cross-border illegal arms smuggling module with the arrest of three persons and recovery of six pistols, officials said on Tuesday.

    Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said preliminary investigations revealed that the accused were in contact with Pakistan-based smugglers through social media platforms and were facilitating the smuggling of illegal weapons.

    He said the accused retrieved the consignments and further supplied them to criminal elements across Punjab.

    The Amritsar Police recovered six pistols from their possession. An FIR has been registered at Police Station Cantonment in Amritsar under relevant provisions of the Arms Act.

    Further investigations are underway to establish forward and backward linkages and dismantle the entire network, the DGP added. (Agencies)
