NEW DELHI, Mar 30: The Delhi Police Special Cell on Monday arrested Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) operative Shabir Ahmed Lone, alleged to be a key handler of a recently busted terror module linked to the Metro Poster case, officials said.
Lone is suspected to be a sleeper cell operative associated with the terror outfit, and further details regarding his role are awaited.
The arrest follows an earlier crackdown in which eight suspects were detained in connection with the LeT network. Investigations revealed that the module was working under Lone’s direction.
According to reports, Lone had previously served around a decade in jail on terror charges. After being released on bail in 2019, he allegedly fled to Bangladesh.
Sources further claimed that Lone was in direct contact with top LeT commanders, including Hafeez Saeed and Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi, both accused of masterminding the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks.
Police said the investigation into the wider network remains ongoing. (Agencies)
