New Delhi: The government today dismissed as fake a message circulating on social media claiming that a scanned copy of the Union Budget 2026–27 has been leaked on a messenger application.
The Press Information Bureau’s (PIB) fact-check unit clarified that the claim is false and misleading. It said one of the images being shared does not pertain to the Union Budget 2026–27 but is from the Union Budget 2025–26 and has been digitally edited.
The PIB further noted that the other image circulating online is entirely digitally created and does not belong to any official Union Budget document. Terming the message as misinformation, the government urged citizens to exercise caution.
Advising people to rely only on authentic and official sources, the government cautioned against sharing unverified content on social media platforms, warning that such misinformation can create unnecessary confusion and panic.
