    LS Speaker hails success of 28th CSPOC 2026

    New Delhi: Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Thursday informed the House about the successful conduct of the 28th Conference of Speakers and Presiding Officers of the Commonwealth (CSPOC) 2026, which was held in India from January 14 to 16 after a gap of 16 years.

    Birla said the conference was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 15 at the Central Hall of the historic Samvidhan Sadan and brought together Speakers and Presiding Officers from 53 Commonwealth countries and 14 semi-autonomous parliaments on a single platform.

    He noted that a record 60 Speakers and Presiding Officers, along with around 200 delegates, participated in the event. The Lok Sabha Speaker said he also held bilateral meetings with counterparts from 40 invited countries during the conference.

    According to Birla, visiting delegates praised India’s strong and vibrant parliamentary democracy and expressed their desire to strengthen friendly relations and cooperation with the country.
