J&K: Security Forces Recover IED In Baramulla

Srinagar, Jan 20: Security forces on Tuesday averted a major tragedy by detecting an improvised explosive device (IED) along the Srinagar–Baramulla highway in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, officials said.

The IED, suspected to have been planted by terrorists, was found by the roadside at Takiya Tapper in the Pattani area during routine patrolling by security forces, they said.

Following the detection, a bomb disposal squad was immediately rushed to the spot to neutralise the explosive device, officials added.

The recovery comes less than a week ahead of Republic Day celebrations, a period marked by heightened security concerns.

Meanwhile, security measures across the Kashmir Valley have been intensified amid apprehensions of terrorists attempting to carry out subversive activities. (Agencies)
