Looking at the long spell of terrorism in J&K, especially in Kashmir, it has become imperative for the government to take some out of the box steps to wipe out even the last man involved in subversive activity in the region and for that keeping an eye on all the entities which might have links both direct and indirect with terror ecosystem has become a thing of utmost importance.
In this regard, the report coming out on the issue of authorities initiating the process of profiling mosques, madrassas and people associated with their management in Kashmir following the busting of the ‘white collar’ terror module last year should be taken as very positively and those asked to share information must cooperate because after all this exercise is only meant for getting rid of terrorism fully and finally.
Under no circumstances this security drive should be taken as negatively because ultimately it is for identifying the elements abetting things which are inimical to peace in the region, and having long lasting peace in J&K should be the sole target of one and all including the government agencies working on ground to achieve this goal as soon as possible.
There are certain political entities who have been trying to politicize this normal security exercise but they should understand that by doing such a thing they are rendering a great disservice to the society in J&K.
It is not good to see the actions of the government with doubt because after all the dispensation is working to achieve the only target of making Kashmir peaceful, livable and a better place to provide opportunities to inhabitants to thrive and prosper. Undermining the government’s thought process, which is working tirelessly to achieve tranquility in the region and sensationalizing its actions in the region with wrong and bogus narratives is something which goes against the interests of the people and therefore must be avoided.
The aforesaid exercise is not for snatching away the religious rights, independence or freedom of anyone rather it should be taken as routine procedure to identify elements which in one way or other are posing a challenge to regional peace and development initiatives.
There is no doubt in the fact that such an exercise will somehow led to inconvenience to the concerned entities but for the sake of peace in Kashmir, this price has to be paid without any grudges. The political class in Jammu and Kashmir should ask the people of all shades and hues to readily become the part and parcel of this exercise so that the goal of tightening noose around the violence mongers should be achieved sooner than later.
