Jammu, Jan 15: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday said he spoke to External Affairs Minister Dr S. Jaishankar on the evolving situation in Iran and sought assurances regarding the safety of students and other residents from Jammu and Kashmir currently in the country.
In a post on X, the Chief Minister said the External Affairs Minister shared his assessment of the ground situation and briefed him on the plans being worked out by the Ministry of External Affairs to address the situation.
Omar Abdullah expressed gratitude to Dr Jaishankar for assuring that all necessary steps would be taken to safeguard the lives and interests of students and other people from Jammu and Kashmir presently in Iran.
He said the government remains concerned about the wellbeing of people from the Union Territory abroad and is closely monitoring developments. (KNC)
