NMC withdraws Letter of Permission of 50 MBBS Seats with immediate effect, Admitted students to be adjusted in other Medical Colleges
New Delhi, January 06: The National Medical Commission’s Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) has withdrawn the Letter of Permission (LoP) granted to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Institute of Medical Excellence, Kakryal, Jammu & Kashmir, for running the MBBS course with 50 seats for theademic year 2025-26.
The decision has been announced today by the MAR Board, vide its notification N-22011/25/2025-Assesment/ MARB (8337986), after its team found lack of infrastructure and the minimum standard during a surprise inspection of the SMVDIME. The decision dated 6 January 2026, takes immediate effect and follows severe findings about non-compliance with minimum standards during a surprise inspection. To safeguard the interests of the students already admitted for the Academic Year 2025–26, the State/UT Authorities have been authorised to accommodate such students in other medical institutions within the Union Territory, as supernumerary seats, in accordance with applicable norms, an NMC Official said.
It is pertinent to note that the National Medical Commission has granted SMVDIME permission to start MBBS Course for 2025-26 session vide its Letter of Permission dated 8th September, 2025.
