Rajouri, December 26: In absence of a boundary wall, two prominent educational institutions in Nahoti zone are apparently vulnerable to encroachment, whereas the concerned authorities appear least interested to take action.

According to sources, two vital government educational institutions—Government Middle School Nahoti and Government Primary School Nahoti, in zone Lower Hathal in Tehsil Sunderbani, Rajouri are without boundary wall, making them vulnerable to encroachment.

They said that the expansive land, situated on a key link road connecting areas via Makol Mandir and extending towards Bamla, makes the property highly susceptible to encroachment by land mafias and unauthorized occupants.

“Spread across more than 55 kanals of prime land along the main road connecting via Makol Temple to Rajouri district through the Bambla link road, these schools lack one crucial safeguard, boundary walls,” said sources, adding that without immediate intervention, the expansive school premises could fall prey to land mafia and encroachers, who are increasingly eyeing roadside properties in the area.

They said, “The schools have huge potential with such vast land, but the absence of boundary walls makes them highly vulnerable,” said sources, adding “Vehicles zoom past on the main road, posing safety risks to children, and the constant traffic noise distracts students during classes. A boundary wall would not only protect the land but also ensure a safer, more focused learning environment for our kids.”

Sources claimed that the Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) of Lower Hathal has already flagged the issue, writing to the Chief Education Officer (CEO) Rajouri three months ago requesting funds for constructing the boundary wall. However, no action has been taken so far.

While acknowledging that the primary responsibility lies with the Education Department and the CEO, locals have appealed to the Deputy Commissioner of Rajouri to step in and direct swift measures to prevent any encroachment.

Despite repeated attempts to reach the CEO Rajouri for comments, he remained unavailable.
