Jammu, Nov 21: Jammu Police is set to launch user-friendly ‘Kirayedar Portal’ for the convenience of the landlords and employers that will make verification of the tenants, servants, and domestic helps just be a click away.
‘Kirayedar Portal’ will streamline the verification process that currently requires residents to visit police stations in person.
As tenant verification is a continuing process and in view of the prevailing situation, Jammu Police is soon launching the ‘Kirayedar Portal’, which will be user-friendly, said a police official.
“Currently, residents have to visit their respective police stations for verification of tenants, domestic help, or employees, which often causes inconvenience and wastes time,” said a police official. “The new portal will allow people to complete online forms and verify tenants and servants with just a click.”
The initiative comes in response to reports of residents skipping manual verifications, sometimes prompting police action. The portal will match the information submitted with existing police records to ensure accurate identification of individuals.
“There were reports that many people skipped manual verifications and in some cases, actions were also initiated,” he said, adding that to provide this service at the doorsteps, the ‘Kirayedar Portal’ is being launched soon.
“The verification process will be completed by following the simple steps, and the information shared on the portal will be matched with police records for the identification of the individual,” he said.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Jammu, Joginder Singh said, “Tenants verification is a regular exercise and to remove the physical contact, ‘Kirayedar Portal’ will soon be launched.”
He also revealed that apart from the landlords, the employers, either government or private, shall also have to share details of their employees.
Notably, the Jammu District Administration, from time to time, awares people and asks them to disclose the details of their tenants and domestic helpers to the nearby police station.
“There is an imminent need to conduct verification of tenants and domestic helpers as there have been instances of anti-national and anti-social elements seeking hideouts in the residential areas in the guise of tenants and domestic helpers,” a senior administrative official said.
He said that it is necessary that some measures be taken to make the landlords and property owners accountable before renting out/making available their premises to tenants and domestic help, and it is considered a threat posed by such adverse elements as imminent danger to public safety and security.
Every Station House Officer has been directed to maintain a separate register of tenants, and the owners who have allowed jhuggies (hutment) in their lands shall also submit the declaration form. (UNI)
