New Delhi: Pak-based terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed, linked to the Delhi Red Fort car bombing, is preparing a fresh fidayeen (suicide) squad for another attack on India and has begun raising funds for the operation, intelligence sources said on Wednesday.
Investigators probing the November 10 blast have found clues indicating that Jaish leaders issued online fund-raising calls through digital platforms, including the Pakistani app SadaPay. Sources said the group may also be planning a women-led attack, leveraging its existing women’s wing headed by Masood Azhar’s sister, Sadiya, formed after Op Sindoor dismantled JeM camps in Bahawalpur.
A key suspect in the Red Fort case, Dr Shahina Saeed—allegedly codenamed Madam Surgeon—is believed to be part of this wing, known as Jamat ul-Muminat, and may have helped finance the attack.
Jaish reportedly asked supporters to donate PKR 20,000 (approx. ₹6,400) per “winter kit” for a mujahid, promising the donor would be regarded as a “jihadi”. The kits include shoes, woollens, mattresses and tents, essential for militants in the field. The objective, officials said, is to enable fast movement of funds to active modules, such as the 10-member “terror doctor” outfit behind the Red Fort car bomb.
The November 10 explosion, which killed 15 people, was caused by a Hyundai i20 packed with ammonium nitrate fuel oil and other explosives. The car was driven by Dr Umar Mohammad, who died in the incident. An undated video released Tuesday showed him defending suicide bombings.
Fresh intelligence inputs also warn of Jaish and Lashkar-e-Taiba mobilising for coordinated strikes in J&K, reflecting an escalation in Pakistan-backed terror activity. Security agencies are simultaneously analysing the operational differences between the two groups as investigations into the Delhi blast continue. (Agencies)
