Red Fort Blast: Intelligence Agencies Uncovers Rs 20 Lakh JeM Funding Link

NEW DELHI, Nov 16: Intelligence agencies have traced a Rs 20 lakh fund trail tied to the Red Fort car blast, linking the money to three doctors—Umar, Muzammil, and Shaheen—officials said on Sunday. The amount is suspected to have been routed by a Jaish-e-Mohammed handler through a hawala network.

Around Rs 3 lakh from the funds was allegedly used to purchase 26 quintals of NPK fertilizer, a chemical compound capable of producing explosive material used in the blast. Investigators said internal tensions reportedly arose between Dr Umar-un-Nabi and Dr Shaheen over the management of the funds, while a crucial lead from Muzammil helped connect the financial threads of the conspiracy.

Meanwhile, Delhi Police sources confirmed the recovery of three 9mm cartridges—two live and one empty—from the blast site. The ammunition type, prohibited for civilian possession, is typically used by armed forces or individuals with special authorisation. However, no pistol or weapon parts were recovered from the scene.

Officials are now investigating how the cartridges reached the site and whether the suspect possessed the weapon. The discovery has added a new layer to the investigation as agencies analyse CCTV footage and forensic evidence to identify potential terror or criminal links behind the ammunition and fund trail.
