J&K: Army Safely Destroys Old Shells Found in Rafiabad Forest

Baramulla, Oct 26: Security forces on Saturday recovered two old artillery shells during a search operation in the Dogripora forest area of Rafiabad, Baramulla district, which were later destroyed safely by the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS).

Officials said troops of the 32 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) detected two suspicious metallic objects during a routine search. The area was immediately cordoned off, and the bomb disposal team was called in to verify and neutralize the explosives.

After technical inspection and adherence to safety protocols, the BDS team destroyed both shells through a controlled explosion, ensuring there was no damage or injury.

Defence sources confirmed that the recovered shells were old and rusted, likely remnants of past military activity in the region. The operation concluded smoothly, ensuring the area’s safety for local residents and security personnel. (Agencies)
