    PM Modi Extends Chhath Greetings

New Delhi, Oct 25: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday extended warm greetings to devotees on the occasion of Chhath Mahaparv, a four-day festival dedicated to worshipping the Sun god, celebrated widely across Bihar, Jharkhand, eastern Uttar Pradesh, and by Indian communities abroad.

“With the sacred ritual of Nahay-Khay, the four-day grand festival of Chhath begins today. I extend my heartfelt wishes to devotees across Bihar and the entire nation. My respect and salute to all those observing the fast,” the Prime Minister said in a post on X.

He also shared a devotional song by noted folk singer Sharda Sinha, praising her for adding depth and emotion to the festival through her music. Modi recalled his visit to Begusarai on Friday, noting that Sinha shares a “soulful connection” with the region.

Describing Chhath as a celebration of simplicity, purity, and social harmony, Modi said the festival’s sanctity and strict observance of rituals make it unique. “The sights at the Chhath ghats inspire wonderful familial and social harmony. The ancient tradition of Chhath has had a profound impact on our society,” he noted.

The Prime Minister said Chhath Mahaparv represents a confluence of faith, devotion, and love for nature, where both the rising and setting Sun are worshipped. “The songs and melodies sung during Chhath are filled with devotion and the spirit of nature,” he added.

Modi also lauded the global celebration of Chhath, saying, “Indian families living abroad participate in its traditions with deep sincerity. I pray that Chhathi Maiya bestow her abundant blessings on everyone.”
