Srinagar, Oct 6: The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Monday announced the schedule for by-elections to the Budgam and Nagrota Assembly constituencies in Jammu and Kashmir, which will be held alongside the Bihar Assembly Election 2025.
Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, in a press briefing, said that polling in both constituencies will take place on November 11, while vote counting is scheduled for November 14, according to the news agency.
The Budgam seat became vacant after Chief Minister Omar Abdullah vacated it, choosing to retain his Ganderbal constituency following his victory from both seats in the previous Assembly election.
Meanwhile, the Nagrota seat fell vacant after the demise of BJP leader Devender Singh Rana on October 31 last year, just weeks after the Assembly election results were declared.
The poll body also released the schedule for the Bihar Assembly elections and by-polls for other vacant seats across several states, marking the next significant electoral exercise ahead of the 2026 election calendar.
