Punjab RPG Attack: NIA Charges 11 Linked to Babbar Khalsa Network

New Delhi, Oct 5: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a charge sheet against 11 accused in connection with the April 6 rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) attack on Qila Lal Singh police station in Punjab’s Batala district, allegedly carried out by operatives of the banned Khalistani group Babbar Khalsa International (BKI).

Officials said the accused were charge-sheeted on Saturday before a special NIA court in Mohali under various provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, the Arms Act, and the Explosive Substances Act.

According to the NIA, another 11 accused remain absconding. Foreign-based BKI handlers — Harpreet Singh alias Happy Passia, Mannu Agwan, and Gurpreet Singh alias Gopi Navasherian — have publicly claimed responsibility for orchestrating the attack, aimed at spreading terror and advancing anti-India agendas.

The NIA probe, which took over the case from Punjab Police in May, revealed that the conspiracy was directed by BKI operatives abroad, who allegedly exploited family ties and social media to radicalise and recruit vulnerable youths in Punjab.

The agency said investigations are continuing to trace the absconders and identify other conspirators linked to the terror plot. (Agencies)
