4 militants killed in encounter in Sunderbani

Four militants, believed to be on a fidayeen (suicide) mission, were killed in an encounter with security forces in Sunderbani area of border district Rajouri of Jammu and on Wednesday. The locals termed the attack as a fresh entry of militancy in Jammu region.
Police said the group of four militants, who had recently infiltrated from across the Line of Control in Sunderbani, were eliminated in a “well coordinated day-long operation.”
“Search operation in the villages of Sunderbani was going on since last two days after specific inputs and last night, a strong input was developed after which a joint column of police, army and BSF launched an operation in the area Rawariya Talla near a security establishment,” a police officer said.
“Today (Wednesday) morning, militants hiding in bushes fired on search party after which the entire area was cordoned by police, army and BSF while additional reinforcement was also rushed to the spot and fierce gunfight started,” he said and added four militants whose identity is yet to be ascertained were killed.
J&K Director General of Police Shesh Pal Vaid confirmed the killing of four militants. “It was a group recently infiltrated from LoC,” he tweeted.
Reports said as the gun battle was going on authorities ordered the closure of all educational institutions in the area as a ‘precautionary measure.'
Earlier reports of a terror attack on paramilitary CRPF camp in the area were refuted by the authorities. SSP Rajouri Yougal Manhas said three bags of ammunition and explosives were recovered from outside a CRPF camp in Sunderbani.
Reports said a security guard manning the gate of a CRPF camp at Sodra in Sunderbani area fired some warning shots and raised an alarm after he detected some suspicious movement near the paramilitary camp.
Sources said the militant group had sneaked into Rajouri district via Keri sector four days ago and soon after their infiltration, they appear to have got separated from their guide.
