KARGIL, Aug 31: Two people were killed and three others critically injured on Sunday after a vehicle skidded off the road at Shaitan Nalla Mord near Gumri and plunged into a river.
According to police, the accident occurred when the vehicle was travelling from Sonamarg towards Kargil. The injured, including the driver, were rescued by Army and Police personnel and shifted to Sub District Hospital Drass for treatment.
All the occupants of the vehicle were non-locals, officials confirmed. Preliminary reports suggest rash driving led to the mishap.
Police have registered FIR No. 58/2025 under sections 281 and 225(a) of the BNS, and further investigation is underway.
