    PM Modi condoles loss of lives in Vaishno Devi landslide

     

    New Delhi, Aug 27:  Prime Minister Narendra Modi today expressed sorrow over the loss of lives caused by a landslide near the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi pilgrimage route in Jammu and Kashmir.

    Taking to social media platform X, Modi said he was “deeply pained by the tragic loss of lives” and extended his condolences to the bereaved families. He also wished a speedy recovery to those injured in the incident.

    “I have spoken with Jammu & Kashmir officials, and rescue and relief operations are being carried out on a war footing. All possible assistance is being extended to those affected,” the Prime Minister said in his post.

    The landslide, triggered by heavy rains, occurred near the Ardhkuwari stretch of the pilgrimage route has killed over 32 people and disrupted the movement in the region. Rescue operations are ongoing, and the administration is working to ensure the safety of pilgrims and residents in the affected area.
