Left to Die, Saved by Fate: Man Survives Murder Plot by In-Laws in Bareilly

Bareilly: In a chilling tale of betrayal, brutality, and an unexpected twist of fate, a man in Bareilly survived an alleged murder attempt orchestrated by none other than his own in-laws. Rajiv, a doctor’s personal assistant by profession, was found gravely injured in a jungle — with both his hands and legs broken — but miraculously rescued by a stranger moments before he was to be buried alive.

The horrific incident took place in the Izzatnagar police station area of Bareilly on the night of July 21. According to police reports and a complaint lodged by Rajiv’s father, Netram, the alleged plot was masterminded by Rajiv’s wife, Sadhana, who conspired with her five brothers — Bhagwan Das, Premraj, Harish, Laxman, and one unidentified sibling — to eliminate him.

What began as a regular evening turned into a nightmare when a group of 11 men stormed Rajiv’s house. The attackers brutally beat him, shattering his hand and both legs. Their intention, as per the FIR, was not just to hurt but to kill — and in a gruesome fashion. They tied up Rajiv, transported him to a forested area near CB Ganj, and began digging a pit to bury him alive.

But fate intervened. Just as the final act of cruelty was about to unfold, a stranger happened upon the scene. Startled by the presence of a witness, the attackers abandoned their plan and fled, leaving a severely injured Rajiv behind. Unable to cry out due to his injuries, Rajiv lay helpless until the good Samaritan called an ambulance. He was rushed to a private hospital, where he is now recovering.

The case came to light when Rajiv’s father filed a complaint, naming his daughter-in-law and her brothers as the conspirators. Netram claimed the motive behind the attempt could be personal discord. He revealed that Rajiv and Sadhana had been married since 2009 and were raising two sons, Yash (14) and Luv (8), who study at a private school.

Though Rajiv owned a house in his native village, the couple had been living in a rented accommodation in the city for the past few years. “My son shifted to the city because Sadhana didn’t want to live in the village,” Netram said. The family’s domestic tensions, he alleged, eventually took a deadly turn.

Local police have registered a case and initiated an investigation. The victim’s family has demanded immediate arrests and strict action against all accused involved in the attempted murder.

Rajiv’s survival is being described as nothing short of miraculous — a man left to die in the dark heart of a forest, saved by the kindness of a stranger. For now, as he fights to recover, his story stands as a testament to resilience and the unexpected power of human compassion. (Agencies)
