Omar Abdullah Visits Sabarmati Ashram, Statue of Unity During Ahmedabad Tour
    Ahmedabad, August 1:

Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, currently in Gujarat to promote tourism in his state, visited the iconic Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad on Friday and paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi.

Sharing pictures of his visit on social media, Abdullah wrote, “I feel both humbled and privileged to have been shown around the Sabarmati Ashram of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. His teachings ring true even today and point us in the direction we should take but seldom do.”

During his visit, Abdullah also tried spinning cotton on a charkha, sharing, “I had a very patient teacher who tried to teach me to spin cotton the same way Gandhi ji did decades ago.”

The Chief Minister also visited the Statue of Unity in Kevadia. Prime Minister Narendra Modi acknowledged the visit, stating that Abdullah’s presence at the monument sends a powerful message of national unity. “Kashmir to Kevadia! Good to see Shri Omar Abdullah Ji enjoying his run at the Sabarmati River Front and visiting the Statue of Unity. His visit gives an important message of unity and will inspire fellow Indians to travel across India,” the PM posted on X.

Abdullah also commented on his early morning run along the Sabarmati River Front, calling it “one of the nicest places” he’s run. “It was a pleasure to share the promenade with so many walkers and runners. I even managed to run past the amazing Atal Foot Bridge,” he wrote.

The Statue of Unity, dedicated to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, stands at 182 metres and is the tallest statue in the world. It is located in Ekta Nagar (formerly Kevadia), Narmada district, Gujarat.
