Fake Delivery Men Pull Off Daring Jewellery Heist in Ghaziabad

Ghaziabad, July 25: In a brazen daylight heist, two men disguised as delivery personnel from Blinkit and Swiggy looted Mansi Jewellers in Ghaziabad’s Bridge Vihar colony on Friday. The robbers escaped with 20 kg of silver, 125 grams of gold, and ₹20,000 in cash, leaving the city’s law enforcement scrambling to track them down.

The incident occurred when the duo arrived on motorcycles, wearing helmets and delivery uniforms to avoid suspicion. CCTV footage captured them entering the store posing as parcel couriers. Moments after stepping inside, they pulled out firearms and threatened the store employees at gunpoint. One employee was also assaulted during the robbery.

Caught completely off guard, the staff could do little as the robbers quickly gathered the valuables. The entire operation lasted only a few minutes, after which the accused fled the scene undetected.

The jewellery store is owned by Krishna Kumar Verma, who had briefly stepped out to a nearby restroom at the time of the robbery. A relative of the owner revealed that the robbers had been surveying the area and likely timed their strike based on Verma’s routine movements.

Following the incident, police teams were immediately dispatched to the scene. Ghaziabad Police Commissioner J Ravinder Goud, along with senior officials including the DCP of Trans Hindon zone, visited the site and reviewed the CCTV footage.

The police suspect that the criminals had prior knowledge of the store layout and staff schedule, suggesting it was a well-planned operation. A manhunt has been launched, and the police are analysing CCTV footage from the area to identify the culprits and trace their escape route.

No arrests have been made so far, but authorities have assured swift action. “We are examining all footage and leads. The accused will be caught soon,” a senior police officer stated.

The incident has raised concerns about increasing cases of criminals misusing delivery disguises to bypass public suspicion and carry out targeted crimes.
