Eid prayers across J&K pass off peacefully

Srinagar:  Thousands of Muslims across Jammu and Kashmir offered Eid al-Adha prayers on Saturday in a spirit of peace and brotherhood, with large congregations held at mosques, shrines, and Eidgahs across the Union Territory.

The largest gathering in Srinagar took place at the Hazratbal shrine, where former Chief Ministers Omar Abdullah, Dr. Farooq Abdullah, and Mehbooba Mufti joined the devout in offering Eid prayers. The shrine, which houses the Holy Relic of Prophet Muhammad, is considered the holiest in the region.

Authorities ensured smooth celebrations by deploying security, sanitation, and healthcare teams at key prayer venues. In Jammu city, the main congregation was held at the Eidgah grounds on Residency Road, where members of Hindu and Sikh communities extended early Eid greetings to their Muslim neighbors, particularly in Jammu, Poonch, and Rajouri.

Similar gatherings took place across Budgam, Baramulla, Kupwara, Bandipora, Pulwama, Kulgam, and Shopian districts.

Children in festive attire accompanied their families to prayer sites, and the post-prayer celebrations saw Muslims embracing one another, reflecting the Islamic message of unity and compassion.

The peaceful observance of Eid al-Adha across J&K marked a significant display of communal harmony and religious devotion.
