    GDC Paloura’s winter camp begins in Assarwan Village

    Jammu Tawi: The National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of Government Degree College (GDC) Paloura kick-started a seven-day winter camp in the adopted village of Assarwan, focusing on the theme “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India). The camp aims to promote community service and social responsibility among NSS volunteers.

    The inaugural function began with Saraswati Vandana, followed by the NSS song, setting the tone for the camp’s activities. Dr. Kulvinder Kour, Principal of GDC Paloura, addressed the gathering, emphasizing the importance of community service and encouraging the volunteers to actively engage in outreach activities that would contribute to the betterment of society.

    Dr. Shivani Sharma, Programme Officer of the NSS unit, explained the significance of the winter camp, detailing the schedule and the role of volunteers throughout the camp. She outlined the various activities planned and briefed the volunteers on the rules and duties to be followed during the camp.

    The seven-day camp will focus on community service, including cleanliness drives, plantation drives, awareness campaigns, and cultural programs. These activities aim to develop social responsibility and enhance the skills of NSS volunteers.

    As part of the camp’s activities, NSS volunteers carried out a cleanliness drive around the college campus, collecting 28 kg of plastic waste for proper disposal. The initiative underscores the NSS unit’s commitment to environmental sustainability and community welfare.
