    SMVDU hosts Academic Exchange with IIT-Jammu faculty

    KATRA: Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) hosted a one-day academic exchange program with faculty members from the Department of Biosciences and Bioengineering, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jammu, focusing on biotechnology and biochemical engineering. The event, organized by the School of Biotechnology (SoBT) at SMVDU, aimed to foster interdisciplinary learning and collaboration between the two institutions.

    The session, led by Dr. Mithu, Head of the Department of Biosciences and Bioengineering at IIT Jammu, covered the upcoming M.Tech program in Biomedical Devices. It emphasized innovation, research, and industry-oriented learning, positioning IIT Jammu as a leading choice for advanced studies in the field. Prof. Ratna Chandra, Head of the School of Biotechnology at SMVDU, expressed excitement about the potential for joint research projects and academic collaborations, highlighting the importance of nurturing the next generation of biotechnologists.

    The event saw active participation from SMVDU’s PG and B.Tech Biotechnology students, who engaged in discussions on bioengineering, synthetic biology, and drug delivery systems. Faculty from both institutions explored avenues for collaboration, including workshops, student exchange programs, and research initiatives in bioinformatics, bioprocess engineering, and sustainable technologies.

    Dr. Shafaq Rasool, Associate Professor at SoBT, wrapped up the session, emphasizing the significance of interdisciplinary research in driving impactful innovations. The event, organized under the patronage of Prof. (Dr.) Pragati Kumar, Vice Chancellor of SMVDU, laid the foundation for a long-term partnership between SMVDU and IIT Jammu, promising enhanced academic and research opportunities for students and faculty alike.
