Hyderabad, Dec 20: President Droupadi Murmu, presented the President’s Colours to the College of Defence Management (CDM) in Secunderabad on Friday, acknowledging its significant contribution to developing strategic leaders for India’s Armed Forces.
Addressing the gathering, President Murmu lauded the college’s five-decade legacy of excellence in training officers from the Indian Army, Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard, as well as senior officers from friendly foreign nations.
She highlighted the institute’s vital role in strengthening international partnerships and preparing leaders for integrated operations.
“The learning imparted here enhances the operational efficiency of our armed forces, empowering them to tackle emerging challenges effectively,” the President stated.
She praised the participation of women officers, describing them as an inspiration for young women across the country.
President Murmu emphasised the transformational impact of technology on national security, urging officers to stay abreast of advancements such as artificial intelligence, cyber warfare, and space defence technologies.
She also underscored the Government of India’s efforts to promote indigenous defence manufacturing under the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative, calling for wholehearted contributions from the defence community.
Highlighting India’s growing global defence presence, the President noted the country’s proactive stance in building strategic partnerships and contributing to global peace and stability.
She emphasised the importance of CDM in preparing armed forces personnel to adapt to the complexities of modern warfare, including grey-zone and psychological warfare.
“Our defence capabilities not only secure our borders but also strengthen our influence in global forums. By focusing on self-reliance and innovation, India is positioning itself as a key player in international security,” she remarked.
President Murmu expressed confidence in the armed forces’ ability to help realize India’s vision of becoming a developed nation by 2047 and wished the officers a bright future.
