New Delhi, Dec 12: Opposition MPs staged a protest inside the Parliament complex on Thursday, carrying placards with Hindi letters that together read “desh bikne nahin denge” (will not let the country be sold off), while raising slogans demanding a joint parliamentary committee (JPC) probe into the Adani issue. This protest marks the latest in a series of daily demonstrations led by the Congress party over the matter.

Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, along with MPs from the Congress, DMK, and Left parties, gathered at key locations within the Parliament complex, including in front of the Makar Dwar steps and Samvidhan Sadan, holding the placards. They continued to raise their voices against the alleged collusion between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and industrialist Gautam Adani, demanding a thorough investigation into the matter.

The protests follow a series of actions by opposition MPs, including offering a tricolour and red rose to BJP counterparts on Wednesday, urging the ruling party to allow discussion of the Adani issue in Parliament. Rahul Gandhi also extended a tricolour card to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh as he entered the Parliament building.

Earlier protests included MPs carrying dark blue “jholas” with caricatures of Modi and Adani, and even a mock interview by Rahul Gandhi with Congress members dressed in masks of Modi and Adani. These protests have been ongoing since the beginning of the Winter session, with opposition parties demanding a JPC probe after a US court indicted Adani and his company officials.

The Congress has claimed that Adani’s indictment “vindicates” their call for a JPC investigation into alleged corruption, with Rahul Gandhi demanding the industrialist’s immediate arrest. The Adani Group has denied all allegations as baseless.
