Jammu Tawi, Dec 4, 2024: A 54-year-old forest guard, Abdul Gaffar Sohil, tragically lost his life after falling from a hillock in Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir. The incident occurred late on Tuesday night while Sohil, a resident of Tabeela village in Banihal, was on duty.
According to police officials, Sohil accidentally slipped into a deep gorge near Nachlana while carrying out his responsibilities. Rescue teams launched an operation to recover him, and after an hour-long search, his body was found at the scene.
The post-mortem was conducted at the Sub-District Hospital in Banihal, and after the completion of legal formalities, his body was handed over to his relatives for the final rites on Wednesday.
The unfortunate incident has deeply saddened the local community, and authorities are extending support to the bereaved family.
