Jammu Tawi: The National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) Jammu and Kashmir launched its membership drive for students on Tuesday during a press conference. The event was led by NSUI State President Ajay Lakhotra and National Coordinator Harikesh Kumar, with key participants including State General Secretary Bhavanyu Bhagat, State General Secretary Sandeep Singh Bhalwal, Aryan Raina from Jammu University, Social Media Chairman Rahul Sharma, MAM College Working President Pannav Manhas, and others.
Ajay Lakhotra, the NSUI State President, announced that the membership drive is open to all students and can be accessed both offline and online at www.nsui.in. Harikesh Kumar, the National Coordinator, invited students to join NSUI, emphasizing that the organization provides a platform for children from non-political families to become future leaders.
During the conference, Lakhotra raised serious concerns about the lack of undergraduate admissions in Distance and Online Education at Jammu University. He expressed disappointment that the university had not yet opened admissions for the 2024-25 academic session, criticizing the failure of both the Distance Education Department and the university administration. NSUI has called for the immediate opening of admissions for undergraduate students.
Lakhotra also addressed the recent decision to ban vehicles on the university campus, calling it an impractical move and a mere “eyewash” for the upcoming NAAC visit. He pointed out that the university serves thousands of people daily, and the 300 parking spaces available are insufficient. He urged the administration to reverse the decision, stressing that it would create unnecessary difficulties for students and staff.
