Jammu Tawi: Superintendent of Police Jammu Ajay Sharma held a press conference today, discussing key security issues, including the verification of tenants and landlords, recent arrests of Rohingyas, and ongoing surveillance operations. SP Sharma provided a detailed update on police activities, reporting that 18 FIRs had been registered in the last two days. He mentioned that 15 FIRs were filed in Police Sub-Division East, covering areas such as Channi-Himmat and Trikuta Nagar, while 3 FIRs were registered in the Satwari and Gangyal regions. He advised property owners to ensure tenant verifications are carried out at the local police stations before renting out properties, in order to help maintain community security. On the issue of the recent arrests of four Rohingya individuals, SP Sharma confirmed that they were detained under the Foreigners Act for being in the country illegally. He urged the public and media to report individuals who provide shelter or employment to Rohingyas. He stressed that some people have been found to be employing and sheltering Rohingyas, which complicates security efforts.
Additionally, SP Sharma revealed that early this morning, raids were conducted on individuals under surveillance as part of ongoing efforts to address the issue of illegal immigrants and security concerns.
