Srinagar, Nov. 21: Dr. Farooq Abdullah, President of the National Conference (NC), on Thursday called for a thorough investigation into the ongoing allegations against the Adani Group. Speaking to reporters in Srinagar, Dr. Abdullah emphasized the need for a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probe and a comprehensive inquiry to uncover the truth behind the allegations of financial irregularities involving the Adani Group.
“There is no doubt that demands for a JPC have been raised, and I hope the government will take this seriously,” Dr. Abdullah said. “A complete investigation should be conducted to understand how this happened and the reasons behind it.”
While refraining from commenting on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s recent statements regarding the Adani issue, Dr. Abdullah acknowledged the international attention the allegations have garnered, particularly around alleged economic misconduct. He said, “If such allegations are true, it is a matter of great concern. Transparency is crucial in these matters.”
Dr. Abdullah also stressed the importance of investigating allegations related to Jammu and Kashmir officials during the years 2021-2022. He called for a localized probe in the region, adding, “Our government in Jammu and Kashmir should also investigate this from our side. Slowly, things will come to light. We need to ensure that any irregularities are exposed and addressed.”
