Kishtwar, Nov. 21: Ajeet Bhagat, Senior Leader and Spokesperson of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (NC) for the Chenab Valley Zone, has raised serious concerns over the poor quality of water being supplied to the residents of Kishtwar. Bhagat alleged that the Public Health Engineering (PHE) department is supplying contaminated water, which has led to an increase in waterborne diseases in the region. In his statement, Bhagat claimed that the filter plant in Kishtwar has not been cleaned for several years, resulting in the supply of dirty water. He said the plant contains dead insects and animals, rendering it non-functional and contributing to the contamination.
“The people of Kishtwar are being forced to consume unsafe water, leading to health problems,” Bhagat said. He called on the Deputy Commissioner of Kishtwar to take immediate action to resolve the issue, urging that the filter plant be cleaned and restored to ensure clean drinking water for the people.
Local residents have expressed growing frustration over the continued supply of contaminated water, calling for urgent intervention from the authorities.
