    NSF pays tribute to Lala Lajpat Rai

    Jammu Tawi: National Secular Forum (NSF) paid tributes to Shaheed Lala Lajpat Rai on his 96th Death Anniversary at University Campus. Amid slogans Lala Lajpat Rai Zindabad, Inqulaab Zindabad, Bharat Mata ki jai and garlanded the portraits of the son of soil.

    Ankush Abrol Provincial Joint Secretary, JKNC was the Chief Guest and Dr Vikas Sharma, Secretary Central Zone and Coordinator Jammu District, JKNC presided over the function. TR Sharma (Retd KAS) was the guest of honour and Vikshay Vashist State Secretary NSF was the Special guest.

    Speaking on the occasion, Ankush Abrol appreciated the efforts of NSF members to come forward and organize these functions.

    He said that Lala Lajpat Rai was one of the foremost leaders who fought against British rule in India. He was popularly known as Punjab Kesari (Lion of the Punjab). Rai led protests against the Simon Commission that was instituted to study potential constitutional reform. He was severely beaten up by British police during the protest and succumbed to his injuries a few days later, on November 17, 1928.

    On this occasion, Zonal Secretary JKNC Dr Vikas Sharma threw light on the life and supreme sacrifices of “Lala Lajpat Rai”.

    TR Sharma also addressed this occasion and shed light on the life of Lala Lajpat Rai, Lala Lajpat Rai was born on January 28, 1865 in village Dhudike, in present day Moga district of Punjab. Vikshay Vashist, State Secretary NSF, also spoke on the occasion.

    Roshan Sharma, Jammu District President delivered the welcome address, Mohd. Umar Farooq President University Unit was delivering the vote of thanks.
