5 Army Personnel Receive Injuries in Highway Crash Near Jalandhar

Five members of the Indian Army sustained injuries early on Saturday morning in Jalandhar district of Punjab following a collision between an Army truck and another vehicle on the busy Jalandhar-Amritsar National Highway.

The incident occurred around 6am near Suchi Pind village when a canter-truck, loaded with onions, crashed into the rear of the Army truck from behind. The impact of the crash caused the Army truck to lose control and overturn on the right side of the road. Meanwhile, the canter-truck veered off and rammed into the central divider.

Emergency services arrived quickly on the scene and transported the five injured Army personnel to a local military hospital for medical attention. Police stated that two of the injured soldiers were listed in serious condition, while the other three escaped with minor wounds.

An initial police inquiry revealed that the driver of the onion-laden canter fled the scene immediately after the accident. Once formal witness statements have been filed, authorities will lodge an official First Information Report and conduct further investigation.

No other details about the identities of the individuals involved or the organisations they represent have been disclosed at this time, as the case is currently under review. Traffic along the busy highway was disrupted for a period as emergency crews worked to clear the accident site. But normal flow has now resumed.
