The Border Security Force (BSF) has recovered four pistols manufactured in China along with 50 rounds of ammunition near the international border in Tarn Taran district of Punjab.
According to official sources, BSF troops carried out a search operation in the early hours of July 18th following a tip-off. During their inspection of farm fields near Kalsian village, the personnel came across a large package wrapped in yellow adhesive tape. The package contained four small packets with four pistols, empty magazines and 50 live bullets of 9mm calibre inside. Metal wire pins were also found in four paper packets.
The recovered firearms and ammunition are believed to have been dropped near the border using an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) or drone. While further investigations are underway, officials suspect the consignment was meant to be collected by associates of militants or anti-national elements operating from across the border. Patrolling along frontier areas has been intensified.
This recent seizure underlines the persistent threat posed by cross-border smuggling networks active in Punjab. The BSF remains vigilant to thwart any attempts aimed at arming violent groups or destabilizing the border region. Stringent surveillance and coordinated operations with state agencies will continue to disrupt the activities of such inimical elements.
