Reliance Jio has bolstered its spectrum holdings after acquiring additional airwaves in two key regions of . The telecom giant spent Rs. 973.63 crore to procure more bandwidth in the 1800MHz frequency band across the states of Bihar and West Bengal.

Sources familiar with the transaction revealed that Jio participated in Department of Telecommunications' recent spectrum auction and was successful in its bids for the two circles. With this acquisition, the company's total spectrum portfolio has expanded to over 26,800MHz nationwide.

Speaking on the development, Akash Ambani, Chairman of Jio, stated that this spectrum purchase will allow the operator to better serve customers in rural areas. He noted that digital inclusion can no longer be limited to urban centers alone. The additional bandwidth will help meet growing data demands and offer superior connectivity experience across both states.

Jio already holds the largest amount of airwaves on modern 4G and 5G technologies. The newly acquired spectrum will help address geography-specific network capacity needs. Analysts say this move cements Jio's position as the market leader in India's telecom industry.

It remains focused on deploying the latest wireless solutions to deliver high-speed connectivity and digital services for all. The latest spectrum acquisition is expected to benefit millions of users in Bihar and West Bengal.
