The promotional events of upcoming science fiction film Kalki 2898 AD directed by Nag Ashwin, saw veteran actors Kamal Haasan and Amitabh Bachchan share a heartwarming moment in Mumbai recently. A long-standing tradition in the Telugu film industry was followed at the event where producer C. Aswani Dutt of Vyjayanthi Films presented the first day first show ticket of the film to Amitabh Bachchan. However, Big B decided to gift the prized ticket to his friend and co-star Kamal Haasan instead.
Upon receiving the ticket from his colleague of many decades, Kamal Haasan reminisced working as a technician on Amitabh's classic film Sholay back in 1975. He had to wait for nearly three weeks to watch the cult film after its release. Kamal said receiving the first day ticket from Amitabh himself was an honor and reminded him of the old days. Both superstars praised Nag Ashwin's vision for Kalki 2898 AD and expressed their joy at collaborating together after decades in the ambitious sci-fi project.
Kamal Haasan also opened up about his intriguing character in the film, saying he plays a complex “sage with bad thoughts”. The actors thanked the producer for bringing them together for the thoughtful film. Kalki 2898 AD is slated for a June 27th theatrical release. It marks the coming together of two giants of Indian cinema Prabhas and Amitabh Bachchan along with acclaimed director Nag Ashwin and talented actress Deepika Padukone.
