    High Court acquits Dera chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim in Ranjit murder case

    New Delhi, May 28: Punjab and Haryana High Court on Tuesday acquitted Dera chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim in Ranjit murder case.

    Ranjit Singh was murdered on July 10, 2002, at his native village, Khanpur Kolian in Kurukshetra. According to the CBI chargesheet, he left on his motorcycle after serving tea to his father, who was working in the fields. On the way, four people fired gun shots at him and fled. Ranjit later died of bullet injuries.

    A special CBI court in Panchkula had in October, 2021, awarded life sentence to Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh and four others after they were convicted of the murder of former dera manager Ranjit Singh in 2002.
