Defence Minister approves expansion of National Cadet Corps with 3 lakh additional cadet positions

New Delhi, Mar 13: The Minister of , Rajnath Singh, has given his approval for a significant boost to the National Cadet Corps (NCC) that will create an additional 3 lakh cadet positions across . This expansion moves the 's largest youth organisation even closer to its goal of developing responsible leadership among the country's young people.

Since its inception in 1948 with just 20,000 cadets, the uniformed youth program has grown its ranks to over 20 lakh cadets through engaging school and college students in disciplines like drill, hiking, community service and disaster response. Now with the newly sanctioned vacancies, the NCC aims to participate even more youth and meet the growing demand from educational institutions nationwide.

The widespread benefits of this expansion will see fair distribution of opportunities across all states and union territories, addressing waiting lists at institutions hoping to offer the optional NCC course. A strategic part of the plan involves establishing four new Group Headquarters and two new cadet units to facilitate quality training.

Ex-armed forces personnel will play a key role through new employment as NCC instructors, capitalizing on their valuable experience to mentor cadets. This initiative generates for veterans while helping pass on important skills.

By nurturing an environment of discipline, leadership and values, the growing NCC network strives to mold future leaders focused on nation-building. The ‘Amrit Peedhi' youth energized through this program will surely aid the goal of Developed India envisioned for 2047.
