DC Rajouri inaugurates Basketball, chess tournament under Nasha Mukt Bharat

Rajouri, Sep 21: Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Vikas Kundal vouched for promotion of the activities to channelise the
energy of youth towards positive directions and to spread awareness against drug abuse.
He was speaking at the inaugural ceremony of Chess and Basketball tournament organised by the Department of Youth
services and Sports and Department of Social Welfare Rajouri, here at sports stadium under the aegis of Nasha Mukt Bharat
Abhiyan.
“The sports tournaments are a powerful medium for spreading awareness about the ill-effects of drugs and creating a drug-free
society,” he remarked while calling upon youth to play an active role in spearheading the awareness campaign against drug abuse.
He said that Basketball is a game of stamina and only a physically fit person can play it well.
While interacting with the players, the DC informed that district administration is organising a number of awareness activities in
connection with the Drug menace.
He also highlighted that there was an urgent need to work collectively on all fronts for eradication of drug menace from society.
“In this fight against drug menace every stakeholder has to play their role, but the major onus lies on our youth, who are our
target group” he added.
The Deputy Commissioner advised the participants to play the game with full spirit and pass on the objective of organising this
tournament.
Among the others, District Social Welfare Officer Rajouri, Wakeel Ahmed Bhat; District Youth Services and sports Officer Sunil
Samyal and other officers of Sports department Rajouri were present.
