Srinagar, January 10: Two local terrorists of Al-Badr outfit were killed by security forces in an encounter in Kulgam’s Hasanpora area.
The gunfight started in Kulgam yesterday between militants and security forces after a cordon and search operation was carried out in the Hasanpora area following a tip-off about the presence of militants there.
In the encounter, as per police, two militants of Al-Badr were killed. The two slain militants were identified as Imad Muzaffar Wani, a resident of Arigam Pulwama and Abdul Rashid Thoker, a resident of Hassanpora.
As per police, the duo slain was categorized militants and were part of groups involved in several crime cases including attacks on security forces. “Imad Wani was involved in an attack on police personnel Mushtaq Ahmad Wagay of Pulwama on 19-12-2021, in which the said police personnel got seriously injured,” said IGP-K Vijay Kumar, who was quoted by police.
“While as, Abdul Rashid Thoker, before joining militant ranks was working as militant associate and was also involved in an attack on a civilian at Chitragam in which said civilian got injured,” said police.
It was further said that the security forces had recovered incriminating materials including arms and ammunition from the encounter site after the operation.
It is pertinent to mention that there was casualty reported from the forces’ side in the gunfight.
